Americas: Last-Minute Changes Are a Planner’s Biggest Stressor, Says Survey

“Event coordinator” comes in fifth on the Forbes 10 Most Stressful Jobs list for 2016. Because that’s Lanyon’s customer base, the event management software company decided to poll meeting planners to find out what’s behind the ranking. The top planner stressor by a long shot is "last minute changes and requests," cited by 66 percent of the 215 respondents to Lanyon's survey. In second place are "manual tasks," cited by 16 percent, followed by budget concerns, the top stressor for 10 percent of respondents.

Asked to choose one thing that would make their jobs easier, more than four out of 10 planners said “more time and staff.” One-third of respondents said “automating manual tasks” would ease their burdens (hello, Lanyon!), while 14 percent said “better reporting of data” and 12 percent said “help in reducing costs.”
