When Ian Lamont was first invited to join a nonprofit organization’s board, he was “really thrown. I had little idea what I was doing.” Lamont, the founder of i30 Media in Newton, Mass., adds, “I liked sharing insights and working on strategy and policies, but there were aspects [of board member responsibilities] I didn’t know.”
