Americas: First Apple Watch Conference App Launches at CEMA

In partnership with:

At the Corporate Event Marketing Association Annual Summit, which ran July 12–14 at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif., a handful of first adopters followed their conference schedules and received notifications with a twist of the wrist. The association was the first to have an event app integrated with an Apple Watch.

Before the conference, Jeff Epstein, director of new products and channel marketing at QuickMobile, the Vancouver-based meeting and event mobile app company that created the app, told MeetingsNet he expected the number of Apple Watch wearers at CEMA to be small—possibly as few as five. “It’s definitely early,” he said, but the message is that you don’t have to do a huge customization to adapt a QuickMobile app to the Apple Watch.

The CEMA Apple Watch app includes three functions: The “schedule view” is a scrollable list of the user's personal agenda that he or she has setup in the CEMA mobile event app.
