Americas: FICP to Gather in Hawaii Amid Strong Meeting Climate
Financial & Insurance Conference Planners announces the locations of its annual meetings three years out. So it was in 2011 that FICP revealed the Hilton Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii as its meeting site for this year. That was a time of holding steady in the meeting and incentive world. Programs were no longer being canceled, but uncertainty remained.
Now, we are experiencing a four-year high in the level of optimism about incentive travel (so said Paul Miller, managing director of DMC Spectra and SITE Global president, at the World Meetings Forum in June), and the value of face-to-face meetings has never been clearer. (An oft-cited Oxford Economics study found that companies that invested more in business travel during the economic downturn grew the fastest, and that every dollar invested in business travel realizes $9.50 in new revenue.)
