In partnership with:

Something magical is happening in the U.S. House of Representatives: Bipartisanship is breaking out around healthcare bills. In April, the House and Senate passed the Sustainable Growth Rate, or SGR, reform bill, ending 12 years of potential pay cuts for doctors. In late May, the House Energy and Commerce Committee voted unanimously to approve the 21st Century Cures Act.

Congress saw that the fact that there are only cures for 500 known diseases out of 10,000, 7,000 of which are rare diseases, as an opportunity to make a difference. The 21st Century Cures Act will provide a host of incentives for expanded development of medical technology, including drugs and devices, and improve access to these breakthroughs. The bill was authored by Full Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.), Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Ranking Member Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Full Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-N.J.), Health Subcommittee Chairman Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), and Health Subcommittee Ranking Member Gene Green (D-Texas).
