Air Travel: New Flights From Delta, Air New Zealand and More


A number of new flights have been launched this week. Here’s what meeting professionals need to know.

New Delta Flights From Atlanta to Shanghai

Starting July 2018, Delta will offer new service between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The additional flight will provide one-stop access to more than 150 destinations in the United States and Latin America from Shanghai as well as provide access to more than 50 locations in China with codeshare partner China Eastern

The airline currently offers flights to Shanghai from Detroit, Seattle, and Los Angeles.  

Air New Zealand Launches New Tokyo Flights

Air New Zealand has announced the launch of new flights to Tokyo. The new Auckland-to-Tokyo flights take off on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from now through May of next year.

According to Business Traveller, the new flights involve the airline’s current B787-9 Dreamliner configuration and not its new one, which replaces overall capacity for an increase in premium seats.

Ethiopian Airlines Announces New Flights to Bahrain

Ethiopian Airlines has recently announced that they have now added flights to Bahrain, located in the Persian Gulf.

These flights will be added effective August 17, 2017, and will fly using the airline’s latest B737-800 New Generation with Sky Interior. New flights to Bahrain are now scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 

Hawaiian Begins Sales on Three New Year-Round West Coast Routes

Hawaiian Airlines will expand its U.S. West Coast presence with the arrival of an A321neo fleet by adding three new non-stop daily routes early next year: Portland-Maui; Oakland-Kauai; and Los Angeles-Kona

The routes will offer guests more options for direct access to Hawaiian's neighbor islands while enjoying the company's single-aisle A321neo aircraft.  

Frontier Airlines to Add New Flights and Destinations

Finally, Frontier Airlines has announced that it will be adding 21 new cities to its schedule, increasing the airline's total number of destinations by 30 percent and doubling the number of routes. 

New flights available now include Denver to Albuquerque, New Mexico; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Ontario, California; Palm Springs, California; Reno, Nevada; and San Jose, California, as well as flights from Albuquerque to Denver, Cincinnati to Miami, and Knoxville to Orlando

The low-cost airline has also announced that by summer 2018, its will have doubled its nonstop routes to 314 and its total number of routes to over 1,000. In addition, the airline's winter service to warm weather destinations will also be expanded to Tampa, Miami, Orlando, and Fort Myers, Florida, as well as Cancun, Mexico.
